Movies

This movie has the classic Star Trek element of human triumph over overwhelming adversity, but the focus in plot and dialog on this being a hunt and not a rite of passage makes the characters seem two dimensional and incapable of grasping a correlation between human rites of passage and those of the predator. The plot gap of what the predators were going to do to supply the human element necessary for the hunt bothered me as well. It was also sad the obvious communication skills this alien race has to dialog with humans would have been exciting to add to the mix, you have them obviously recognizing the heroine as a peer who has passed their rite of passage, but transcending the threshold of a rite of passage earns one more then a trinket of war. It would have been exciting to see her given the decision to go with them, or to stay. All in all there were many missed opportunities to raise the bar of the intellectual tease of the franchises, to develop the global character and cultural attributes of the predator, to explore the who and why of the prey alien, and many other things. There is more to life then the sugar of special effects and the drama or combat. So if there is another feature combining the two franchises, I hope a leap of faith that the audience is smarter and more savvy then those making this film seem to think they are. It has vast potential, but to mine that, the film maker needs to have what it takes to be innovative and to take risks outside the envelope of where these franchises have gone before.

I can only say that im disappointed abaout this movie. Every true fan of sci-fi and specially of alien 1 and predator 1 movie will agree that avp is just cinema film - film for mass audience as so many films today. sorry for my english.

This is a great movie and i cant wait for AVP 2 to come out in theaters. This is the kind of movie that u just cant some up in a couple of words. The visual effects could of been a little better and have a little more action but, other wise i loved it. but one thing that i didnt like is the time zones i mean that alien takes place in 2030 and predator takes place in 1995 and they just meet together. and what is with the extra weapons predator has like the extra long blades. They should of been as long as they r in the original movie. but this was the best movie i have ever seen next to the original alien and predator movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This movie was Awesome if your a fan of either Alien or Predator Movies. It delivered. If I was to change anything about the movie I would make the stories of who most of these people we dont really get to know, and who die anyway are, a whole lot shorter. By the time they explained who everyone was and how they got there in the first place, there was not a lot of time to show the one thing that made both Alien and Predator what they are. Alien you never knew where that sneaky thing was going to be, you just knew it was. Predator was the stealthiest of predators and used an arsenal of weapons and effects to get on top of its victims. Spend a little more time there and less on the people and its dialed.

alien vs. predator was a really cool movie with some great special effects. it amazes me that it was rated PG-13 to me. it should be rated R. i would give it 3 out of 5 stars.
